It is true that I don’t start or finish many knitting projects these days. But my husband loves handknit wool socks and wears them almost every day, summer or winter. This means two things:
1. There is a constant need for socks because he wears them out.
2. There is constant pressure to knit socks from the other household member.
All of this is actually a good thing, or perhaps not much would ever get knit around here.
This past Christmas, my sister bought my husband a couple of skeins of Koigu sock yarn as a present. Knowing of course that I would be the one turning them into a finished product (and frankly it was my idea). Its not yet the end of March, winter is still hanging around, and the Christmas socks are done:
That’s pretty fast work, for me.
Project details:
Yarn: Two skeins Koigu sock yarn.
Needles: US size 2 bamboo double points.
Pattern: My own, cast on 64 stitches, 2×2 ribbing until long enough, 13 rows of stockinette for the ankle and then a short-row heel and toe in different sturdier yarn.
I’m pretty sure the grateful recipient wore them the day after I sewed in the last end.
