I’m not especially known for my love of blue, but a clear blue theme emerged from today’s pictures.
Unfortunately, I’ve made another chemo cap. This one is for my cousin in Germany who has a pretty serious situation going on, and I wanted her to know I’m thinking of her.
Some of you will remember this pattern, the Shedir cap from an old issue of Knitty. This pattern is made with a very distinctive yarn (Rowan Calmer) which was discontinued years ago and is pretty hard to find now. Although written for one skein, and I did make one using exactly one skein, the last three times I’ve made this I’ve run out of yarn.
Including this time. Why I keep being surprised at this turn of events, I don’t know. However, this go-round was the first time I didn’t have another skein of the same color.
I didn’t want just to pick up the new color from one row to another, so thought of doing a fair-isle two-color bit to make the top look snowflakey. Hopefully it works OK.
Project Details:
Pattern: Shedir by Jenna Wilson (link above)
Yarn: One whole and one partial skein of Rowan Calmer
Needles: US size 3, 16″ circulars and double-points
And, in keeping with the blue theme, here are things my nails match:
I only wear this polish (Essie Butler Please) when it should be spring but isn’t, to cheer me up with a jolt of color.
